Is my home course available?
The easiest way to check is from within the app. Just start a new round and look for the course in the Nearby list. The list contains 50 nearest courses.
My course is missing. How can I add it?
You can map the course in 10-20 minutes on your own computer: http://golfscout.contorra.com
I’m planning to travel and would like to know if Golf Pad has data for a course at my destination. Where do I check that?

If you noticed a problem with an existing course, please contact us at email@example.com
My course is missing. Will I get it if I upgrade to Golf Pad Premium?
No, course availability is the same between free and premium versions. You can map the course in 10-20 minutes on your own computer: http://golfscout.contorra.com
So Golf Pad is available for free. Is it a ‘trial’ or a limited functionality ‘lite’ version?
No, this is NOT a ‘trial’ or ‘limited functionality’ app. Golf Pad is a fully-featured GPS rangefinder with scorecard, distances to middle/front/back of the green, aerial view and shot tracker. Play as many courses as you like. It’s free for life.
What is the full list of features supported in Golf Pad?
Please see the full list at golfpadgps.com.
Can I keep score for 4 players?
Yes! Golf Pad lets you keep score for 1 to 4 players, including strokes, putts and penalties for every player. Easily share scorecard via email or Facebook. Upgrade to Golf Pad Premium to keep score for up to 8 golfers.
How do I use shot tracker?
Please see Shot Tracker page for detailed instructions.
How can I improve battery life while playing a round?
GPS sensor consumes lots of energy to maintain the signal. We took multiple measures to improve battery life with Golf Pad. Majority of the users can complete a full 18-hole round, some users report they can play two rounds on a full charge. Ultimately this depends on the model and the age of the phone.
There are several things you can do to improve battery life: disable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and online sync in system settings. Tune down the brightness of the screen as long as you can still read it outdoors. Avoid using other phone features such as browsing or email. Finally, consider upgrading to Golf Pad Premium. Since it does not show the ads, it spends less energy downloading and displaying ad content.
Will Golf Pad work without Internet connection?
Golf Pad saves hole locations the first time you play a course. So if you started a round while connected to the Internet, you'll be able to play that course even if there's no Internet connection anymore. Just select the course from the ‘Recent’ list. There will be no Google Maps view, since that requires access to the Internet.
Is it possible to download and save map imagery for offline use?
GOLF PAD PREMIUM
What is Premium about?
Some advanced features and statistics are limited to Premium edition.
What exactly are the Premium features?
Here's the current list. We are adding more premium features all the time.
How to upgrade?
Install Golf Pad free edition and open the app. Then choose "Upgrade to Premium" option within the app and follow the on-screen prompts.
Will I keep my playing history and statistics after upgrade?
What happens if I buy a new phone?
If you bought Golf Pad Premium upgrade on your old Android phone, you will be automatically upgraded with no extra fees. Just be sure to use the same GMail account in Google Play Store. There's no need to go through purchase steps on the new phone. Note, occasionally it takes a while for Google Play Store to restore in-app upgrades. Be sure you have strong phone and Internet connection. In some cases you may need to restart the phone.
If you bought Golf Pad Premium upgrade on your old iPhone, you will be automatically upgraded with no extra fees, as long as you use the same Apple account on the new phone. If Golf Pad does not upgrade automatically, please restart the phone, then select Upgrade to Premium and tap the refresh icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
Will you need my credit card number?
No, upgrade is an in-app purchase handled by Apple AppStore / Google Play Store. Contorra does not get access to your credit card.
AUTOMATIC PLAYING HISTORY BACKUP
Is online backup available on my phone?
Yes! Backup is now supported on both iPhone and Android. Please make sure you are running the latest version of the app.
How does automatic backup work?
Premium users can backup full playing history and statistics online. When you get a new phone, your history will follow. To get started:
That's it! Follow the same steps on your new phone to restore playing history and statistics.
Do I need to manually backup each round?
No. Once you enabled backup, it's fully automatic. Every time you play a round, it will be synced to server. You can always see the date of the last successful sync in backup settings.
Why do I need to log in?
So that we know you are the same person once you get the new phone.
Will Golf Pad ever post to my Facebook or Google+ stream?
Only if you specifically choose to share a round. Golf Pad does not post otherwise.
I lost/broken/erased my old phone, and backup was NOT set up there. Is it possible to pull my rounds from it?
Does Golf Pad support handicaps and net/gross scoring?
Handicaps are availble on Android to US users now. More countries and iOS are coming soon.
How do I start a round using handicap-adjusted (net) scoring?
Start a round, then tap Scoring and select Net scoring method. You can use net scoring with Store Play, Stableford, Modified Stableford and Match Play. For each player, you can specify the tee and the handicap index.
Can Golf Pad compute my handicap based on playing history?
Not at this time. We plan to add that option in a future version.
What are the dots in the scorecard?
Golf Pad computes which holes you get strokes on based on your course handicap and individual hole handicaps. Strokes are marked with dots on the scorecard.
A tee is missing or incorrect for my course, is there a way to fix it?
Yes. Select the tee, tap Details and make changes as needed. If tee does not exist, tap + to add it and specify tee details.
What are Course Rating and Slope?
Rating and slope are measures of course difficulty. They are typically printed on scorecard for each tee. Please see this page for details.
My course uses Standard Scratch Score (SSS) instead of rating and slope. Where do I enter it?
Golf Pad does not support SSS ratings at this time, we are working on adding it soon.
Golf Pad used to work fine, but now I don’t have GPS signal.
First, check if GPS access is enabled in phone settings. If it is enabled, but you still do not get GPS signal, check if other apps on the phone see GPS. For example, you can use this app on Android phone: GPS Status. If other apps don't have GPS access either while you are outdoors with a clear view of the sky, you may want to check with your phone manufacturer support. There may be a hardware or system problem.
I purchased Golf Pad Premium upgrade, but I still don’t see it on my phone.
If you have Android phone, please review the confirmation email from Google Play Store. If it says ‘Order cancelled’ towards the bottom of the message, then your payment did not go through. Please update your credit card or carrier billing settings in Google Wallet and try again.
If you use iPhone, please restart the phone, then select Upgrade to Premium and tap the refresh icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
